What is the ISO 22000:2019 standard?
The standard specifies requirements for a food safety management system (FSMS), enabling an organization directly or indirectly involved in the food chain to plan, implement, operate, maintain, and update an FSMS that provides products and services that are safe, in line with their intended use. The standard outlines requirements for an FSMS that: - demonstrates compliance with applicable legal and regulatory food safety requirements; - evaluates and assesses mutually agreed customer requirements regarding food safety and demonstrates compliance with them; - effectively communicates food safety issues to relevant interested parties within the food chain.
What is a management system and why do we need one?
The international standard ISO 9000:2015 defines a management system as a set of interrelated or interacting elements of an organization to establish policies, objectives, and processes to achieve those objectives. A complete management system covers every aspect of management and focuses on supporting performance management to meet objectives. The management system should be subject to continual improvement as the organization evolves.
